Cycling through South Kennemerland

Cycling through the elite forests and gardens of South Kennemerland.
Traces of the Golden Age are more evident here than anywhere else in the Netherlands. Large Country houses with even larger gardens adorn the area. This is how the elite merchants lived back then. Outdoor life was no slouch either. In summer you can feast your eyes and nose on the many varieties of flowers that color and smell here. In addition to the large, colorful flower gardens filled with statues and other works of art, you can feast your eyes on the meadows and valleys filled with horses and wisents. In addition, the route passes through numerous beautiful forests and along lakes where people used to go hunting and fishing. Once you reach the dunes, nature looks very different again. From the highest peaks you look out on a vast area where konik horses, shetland ponies and Scottish highland cattle graze to maintain the area. This gives many beautiful flowers and orchids the chance to grow which in turn attract many butterflies and birds. And on what route here in the Netherlands can you not be a bird lover? Therefore, there are also numerous bird-watching huts to be found. Once you have cycled out, you can of course always rest at one of the many beachfront cafes!
