Getting a breath of fresh air on Texel

On Texel there are some small villages and hamlets here and there with some nice buildings and a small windmill, but of course one comes here for the fresh nature. Nature here varies greatly due to the influences of wind, sun and water. In the wind and shade it can get very cold while out of the wind, in the sun, it can get up to 50 degrees locally! This creates a unique and variable vegetation that must cope with these conditions. This also makes it attractive for the 300 different bird species that can be found on Texel. On the west coast lies the Nationaal Park Duinen where we find the salt marsh landscape De Slufter. This area partially floods at high tide, and at low tide a lot of silt remains. Silt full of food that birds flock to. The bird lover should definitely cycle past this place. Yet it is also well worth taking a look at the lighthouse, all the way in the north of Texel. At a height of about 50 meters you have a view over the piece of coastal area known as the most aggressive in all of the Netherlands. In short, here you can get a nice breath of fresh air!
