Tour of The Gooi

Cycling through nature, past villas and a castle.
From Blaricum you will cycle a beautiful route through Het Gooi. Along the Gooimeer you will see the special waterfront apartments. Along the way you will pass city parks and seem to be cycling through nature, but between the trees you will see beautiful houses and true arbors. In Laren, the Singer Museum and Singer Theater are next to each other. The Singer Theater had a unique role in the rise of television in the Netherlands, with pioneers such as Willem Duys and Mies Bouwman. The Gooi offers a wide variety of landscape types with waters at the edges. There are deciduous, coniferous, mixed forests, heathland, grassland with sandy ditches, country estates and unique remnants of high-altitude fields. Many heathlands are bordered with green forest edges to form an almost continuous coulisse landscape. This prevents views of built-up areas. In Hilversum, you can visit the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. Hilversum has been nicknamed the 'garden city' or 'villa village' for its abundance of greenery and villas. After the flat heath and the center, it goes through the woods towards Baarn. Here is Groeneveld Castle. It is an 18th century country estate built in the Rococo style. The castle houses one of the three xyl libraries in the Netherlands. All three were commissioned by King Louis Napoleon in the eighteenth century by Alexander Schlumbach (1772-1835). After cycling the last part between meadows and fields you will earn a delicious refreshment in a cozy ambiance.
