This bike route of about 36 kilometers takes you through the heart of West Friesland, a typical North Holland landscape with wide vistas, old dikes and characteristic villages. You cycle past straight ditches, vast meadows and picturesque village scenes in places like Obdam, Spierdijk, Wogmeer and Zuid-Scharwoude.
A special highlight along the way is the Polder Museum Heerhugowaard, where you can learn more about the reclamation of the polder and the battle against water. A story that has literally shaped the landscape you cycle through.
Along the way you will experience the tranquility of the polders, see authentic cheese-cover farmhouses and pause at cozy terraces or lookout points. You follow part of the historic Westfriese Omringdijk, which once provided protection from the water of the sea.
