Fort Uitermeer

Langs de oever van de Vecht ligt Fort Uitermeer, een indrukwekkend verdedigingswerk dat deel uitmaakte van zowel de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie als de Stelling van Amsterdam. Van het vroegere torenfort zijn nog duidelijke resten te zien, omringd door kademuren, water en groen. De rustige ligging en het uitzicht over de rivier maken dit tot een bijzondere plek om even af te stappen. Terwijl je rondkijkt, zie je hoe het fort strategisch in het landschap is geplaatst om de toegang tot Weesp en de vaarroute te beschermen. Ook de natuur is hier volop aanwezig: watervogels, rietkragen en open water geven het fort een bijna verstilde sfeer. Een mooie combinatie van historie en landschap.
