Beautiful tour through a magnificent Brabant landscape
This not-too-long bike ride runs through varied scenery in the far south of North Brabant, including a few tangents to our southern neighbors.
The course is located near the village of Reusel, municipality of Reusel-De Mierden, an originally agricultural area that in recent decades has been transformed in several places into a nature reserve. As a result of these efforts, the region has greatly increased in attractiveness and there is a good number of beautiful cycling and hiking routes, where it is pleasant to stay. Of particular note in the village is the imposing Our Lady of Heaven Church, a neo-Gothic cross-basilica built in 1895. The surroundings are partly dominated by the landscape of the beautiful, partially canalized Reusel River, which belongs to Natura2000 and is very popular with the fishing public. The route continues through the villages of De Hoek and Vooreind to Lage Mierde, with its striking St. Stephanus Church. Lage Mierde lies on a ridge between the rivers Raamloop and Reusel, which join north of the village via the Wellenseind estate, which in turn borders the beautiful Utrecht estate. West of the village is the Wellenseindse Heide, which contains some beautiful fens. Here the route turns south to De Hoek and then runs parallel to the border with Belgium for a few kilometers. The last part of the route is characterized by a landscape with many wooded banks, before reaching its final destination via the hamlet of De Hoek.
