Bike route from Goirle across the border with Belgium
Beautiful route across the border through forests and countryside.
From Goirle you drive into the beautiful countryside of North Brabant. You will ride along the border of Belgium but you will also cycle a bit through it. Therefore, do not forget to bring your valid ID or passport. With Belgium ahead of you, you ride in the direction of Roovert. The area you cross and rich in old deciduous and coniferous trees, mixed forests, heath and fens. Here you cross the border, at the woods along the Rovertse Leij stream. You may encounter breeding birds such as the tawny owl, black woodpecker, whistler and many others. Let the impressions wash over you of this beautiful natural area interspersed with farmland. Along the way you can take a break in Poppel and enjoy what else Belgium has to offer. You continue your way through Belgium to cycle back into the Netherlands at Baarle Nassau. The town of Baarle-Nassau together with the Belgian municipality of Baarle-Hertog form the village of Baarle. The territory is quite intertwined (there are as many as 30 parts), but this is only visible on paving stones and aluminum plates in the road and fortunately otherwise mostly on the map. After years of discussion, it was decided that both Baarles should remain independent and work together under the banner of the Benelux Agreement. After Baarle-Nassau, you will drive back to the monastery through Dutch Brabant. Here you can reminisce about this special route through the Netherlands and Belgium.
