Cycling around Lake Grevelingen

A real challenge.
This challenging bike route starts at the village of Herkingen on the Grevelingenmeer on Goeree -Overflakkee. Via Battenoord a village near there you cycle further. Here at the marina a group of flamingos hibernates every year so it is a good idea to watch for them as you cycle along the dike. As you cycle along the Zuiderlandsezeedijk you will see the Noorder Krammer on your left. You will cycle right into the province of Zeeland at Bruinisse. In Zeeland you will pass the villages of Sirjansland, Dreischor, and through Brouwershaven. This is a draw for Water Sports enthusiasts. Thanks to the Delta Works, the town has become more accessible. As you cycle by the harbor, the Grote or Sint Janskerk is on the left. This church is open to visitors daily from April to November from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm! Over the dike with a beautiful view of the Grevelingenmeer you cycle further to Scharrendijke. You leave the province of Zeeland via the Brouwersdam and you are back on the South Holland island of Goeree-Overflakkee. Via Ouddorp and Stellendam you will arrive back in Herkingen and you will have had quite an experience!
