From the randstad The Spaarnwoude through

Haarlem is the capital city in the northern part of the Randstad. But just outside the center of Haarlem you leave from Het Veerkwartier into the tranquility of this area. Direction Spaarndam you drive along different waters. You pass the Binnen Liede and the Mooie Nel. The latter is part of Het Spaarne and contains many different species of fish. Along this water there are several windmills in different places which make for a picturesque picture. Through Spaarndam you come to Het IJ. On the Zijkanaal C Weg you will cycle along the Zijkanaal C. This canal is 3.5 kilometers long and runs from the Grote Sluis in Spaarndam to the North Sea Canal. There is also a Zijkanaal B but no Zijkanaal A. Through the polders you come to Het Houtrak. This polder is still brackish; there is still a lot of sea salt in the soil. However, this has created a special piece of nature. Special toads, birds such as spoonbills and even shrimps can live here. You can enjoy the views and the animals you are bound to see. You will cycle back through the polders. You will still be treated to vistas that reach to the horizon. Once back, you deserve a treat for the stomach. Over drinks or a nice dinner, you can reminisce about the bike ride.
