Past bulb fields and through the dunes of North Holland

Limmen is one of the oldest villages in North Holland. Because of its sandy soil, Limmen has become the center of bulb cultivation. In Limmen you will find the Hortus Bulborum, a bulb garden with 4000 species of spring bulbous plants. Open from April to mid-May. You cycle along the Uitgeestermeer. Around the village of Uitgeest there are 5 windmills. Along the bulb fields and meadows the route takes you to the beach and dunes. Sand is interspersed with trees and you can smell the sea. Here you have no cars driving by for a while. In Castricum is visitor center De Hoep. Here you can learn all about purifying water.
