Route along water and nature in the randstad

From the center of Leidschendam the route goes along the Zuidvliet towards recreation area Vlietland and the bird lake Starrevaart. This is a nature and recreation area created by sand extraction with natural areas rich in birds. The heart of Vlietland is formed by a large pond of about 150 hectares. Part of the area is grazed by Scottish Highlanders. You cycle through the polders to Stompwijk. Until 1965 many bargees sailed over the Stompwijkse Vaart so the village is characterized by many turning and drawbridges. Outside Stolwijk, the many meadows are divided into sections with straight lines. It is almost as if a ruler has been laid along them. Wide and narrow ditches alternate. In the distance, the bustle of the city looms again. And then it's time for coffee again.
