De Dwingeloo Radiotelescoop

De Dwingeloo Radiotelescoop ligt midden in het Nationaal Park Dwingelderveld en is een van de oudste radiotelescopen ter wereld. De indrukwekkende schotel van 25 meter doorsnede werd in 1956 in gebruik genomen voor onderzoek naar sterren en melkwegstelsels. Tegenwoordig is de telescoop niet meer in professioneel gebruik, maar gerestaureerd en toegankelijk voor educatieve projecten en rondleidingen. Vanaf de fietsroute is de grote witte schotel goed zichtbaar tussen de heidevelden.
