Dijktempel

Op de zeedijk bij Marrum staat de Dijktempel. In 1963 begon het werk aan de zeedijk van 66 kilometer lengte. Deze dijkophoging was na 30 jaar klaar. Als herinnering hieraan is dit monument geplaatst. De tempel staat op 12 palen. De 12 palen van deze Dijktempel symboliseren de 12 dorpen die destijds door de watersnoodramp van 1953 werden getroffen. De Dijktempel in Marrum herdenkt de gebeurtenissen van de watersnood ramp in 1953 en staat symbool voor de inzet van de gemeenschappen om overstromingen te voorkomen.
