Rijksmuseum Muiderslot

Muiderslot is een indrukwekkend middeleeuws kasteel aan de monding van de Vecht, vlak bij het IJmeer. Het kasteel werd rond 1280 gebouwd door graaf Floris V en is een van de best bewaarde kastelen van Nederland. Met zijn torens, kantelen en omringende gracht is het Muiderslot een echte blikvanger.

Het kasteel ligt op een historische plek waar water, handel en verdediging samenkwamen. Tegenwoordig is het Muiderslot een museum en worden er regelmatig tentoonstellingen en activiteiten georganiseerd. De kasteeltuinen en de omgeving van Muiden maken dit tot een aantrekkelijke bezienswaardigheid langs fiets- en wandelroutes door het Vechtgebied en het Gooi.
