Beautiful cycling landscape around Ede

Ede has a rich history as a military center. Especially due to the many acts of war in '40-'45, numerous barracks were subsequently built and used, all of which, however, have since ceased their activities and are now only partly to be visited. The memories are intact and the impact of the events of the time is commemorated annually, including on the Ginkelse Heide, the landing site of thousands of soldiers during Operation Market Garden. Heathlands are only part of this beautiful trail. The Wekeromse Zand, on the north side of the trail, contains dozens of acres of sand drifts, a beautiful area with mouflons and other varied wildlife. Several places on the route are home to dozens of National Monuments, including the sheep pens on the Ginkelse Heide, the Old Church in Ede itself and several mills that you pass as a cyclist. The history of a number of objects dates back to the Bronze Age, giving historically interested cyclists plenty to look forward to. Of course, the town of Otterlo is an attraction in itself, if only for the presence of the Kroller Muller Museum. The mapped out route also contains many recreational parks and attractive resting places where it is good to relax and recover.
