Bicycle route from Rhenen
Versatile bicycle route from Rhenen along the rivers.
If you like a diverse landscape, you will definitely feel at home in the Betuwe. Winding rivers and vast fields alternate constantly. Enjoy the glint of the sun on the waters of the Waal and Lower Rhine on a warm day.
From the dike, you not only have a beautiful view of the river and floodplains, but also of several towns you pass. For example, on your right you will see the town of Opheusden. Once you are off the dike, a little later you will pass a cozy little square with a number of stores. The Grote Kerk is also not far from the route.
Via Dodenwaard, Eldik and Ochten you continue this bicycle route in the Betuwe. The last town is known for its fruit trees. Are you cycling the route during the blossom time? Then you will certainly encounter flowering fruit trees, for example along the Waalbandijk between Ochten and IJzendoorn. Ochten itself also has a National Fruit Park.
In Echteld you can admire an old castle with a stylish garden. Behind it is the Laantje naar Parijs, although Paris will not be the final destination of the bicycle route in the Betuwe. The small village of Ommeren boasts an old village church whose base even dates back to the Middle Ages.
A cozy ferry will take you back to Rhenen.
