Bike route through eastern Flevoland

The province of Flevoland is the youngest province in the Netherlands. You can see this in the environment in the austere layout. Fields are divided along straight lines and forests tightly planted. The polder, hence it is also called Flevopolder, lies an average of 5 meters below sea level. Foreigners therefore regularly wonder how residents of the Netherlands can still sleep peacefully. A railroad tunnel, bridges and a dike connect it to the mainland. This is why it is called the largest artificial island in the world. You cycle through the town of Biddinghuizen. You will continue along the Hoge Dwarsvaart. At the end you cycle over the pumping station Lovink. Partly due to the use of this pumping station, the land was drained and Flevoland was given the right to exist. You will see a relief above the entrance showing a fisherman and a farmer shaking hands across a dike.
