Bike route through Ooster and Westerzand nature reserve

A route past moors and dolmens.
From De Maargies Hoeve you drive into the beautiful landscape of the provinces of Overijssel and Drenthe. After a few kilometers you are already in Drenthe. You will ride past large estates and be treated to beautiful vistas across grasslands and farmlands. The nature reserve Ooster- and Westerzand through which you cycle is characterized by drifting sand, heath and fens. When there is a piece of forest it will be mainly pine forest. Besides special animal and plant species, this area is also characterized by megalithic tombs and burial mounds. Near the Havelterberg lies one of the largest hunebeds in the Netherlands. It is about 19 meters long and still consists of nearly 40 stones. This cycle route takes you past vast fields, across heathland, through woods and past dolmens to end at a table at the Maargies Hoeve. Here you can relive all the impressions.
