Cycling route Boniface (Dokkum)

Boniface Cycle Route takes you through the historic heart of Northeast Friesland, a region where nature, culture and silence are still abundant. This varied tour takes you through open meadows, atmospheric villages and along places that remind you of the influence of the missionary Bonifatius, who left his traces in this region. Along the way you will pass through characteristic Frisian villages such as Damwald, Rinsumageast, Broeksterwald and Burgum. You cycle on quiet paths and dikes, with wide views over the farmland and here and there a characteristic terp, church or bell tower. There are still echoes of early medieval history visible in the landscape, such as old church sites and monuments. Along the route there are also several catering locations for a pleasant break, and places of interest such as the Bonifatius chapel, historic churches and natural areas with beautiful vistas.
