Cycling route through Limburg hill country and German border region

During this bicycle route you will cross the undulating landscape of South Limburg, where forests, heaths and open fields alternate. You cycle right through the Brunssummerheide. This is a vast nature reserve with fens, sandy paths and fragrant pine forests. Further on, you pass the quiet villages of Schinveld and Jabeek, where half-timbered houses and old farms dominate the streets. On quiet country roads you cross the border into Germany, where you cycle through rural Susterseel and the green outskirts of Gangelt. The atmosphere here is quiet and rural, with fields as far as the eye can see. Back in the Netherlands, you pass by Doenrade with its castle-like mansions, and through the wooded areas of Oirsbeek and Amstenrade you return to the moors. Along the way you enjoy the wide views, small stream valleys and the occasional lookout tower or bench for a short break. A route full of variety and nature through the most beautiful part of Limburg.
