Diverse route from the Kagerplassen to the beach

This diverse route starts at Lisserdijk and provides you with a nice day out on your bike. The Kagerplassen is a system of lakes surrounded by reed locks and canals. A lot of (water) recreation takes place here. The oldest sailing school in Warmond is 't Vossenhol, founded in 1947. It is estimated that around the Kagerplassen there are about 4,100 berths in marinas. You drive on the border of North and South Holland to turn towards the polders. Small towns and waters alternate until the city of Leiden comes into view. Along the canals of Leiden, also called the Key City, you will pass one of the faculties of the oldest University in the Netherlands. Museums, courtyards, stores and terraces along the canals you will find plenty to take a break. Continuing on, the bike route heads toward the beach. Noordwijk has changed from a fishing village to a coastal town with allure. The 13 kilometer long beach is a great place to relax; with your feet in the sand or on a terrace overlooking the sea. At the lighthouse, the route enters the dunes. Past the bulb fields and the Keukenhof you drive into Lisse. A town that is more than 800 years old. From Lisse it goes back through the polders.
