Green bicycle route through the Planken Wambuis nature reserve
A beautiful bicycle route across the Veluwe with the beauty of forest, heath and sand drifts.
From the campsite Nieuw Beekdal in Otterlo you ride into the beautiful surroundings of De Veluwe. You cycle in the direction of Roekel and then keep to Otterlo. The forest gives shelter on one side while on the other side you look over the agricultural fields. From Otterlo, follow the Mosselsepad to Mossel. Mossel is an agricultural enclave, or an agricultural area enclosed by, in this case, woods sand drifts and moors. This nature reserve, Planken Wambuis, belongs to Natuurmonumenten. It is a forest largely composed of Scots pines but also a part of oak coppice forest. Already in the Middle Ages it was mentioned and still trees are partly cut down to just above the trunk base so that on the stump a new tree can arise. Through the outskirts of Ede you wind around the estate. You still pass the Valenberg lookout point. When you look over the heath valley you can even see wild boar, horses and deer walking. After this beautiful route you can enjoy the green surroundings at the campsite.
