Route Stippelberg

Enjoying the nature of Brabant.
Gemert is a village in the municipality of Gemert-Bakel in the province of North Brabant. It lies on the edge of the area called De Peel. This is nowadays a largely excavated peat bog area. From the early Middle Ages the inhabitants cut peat for their own use. Only since 1984 has this peat extraction come to an end. You cycle towards Bakel through the Esperloop to then enter the nature reserve De Stippelberg. A large nature reserve with two faces. In the west you cycle through pine forest and over hills. And in the so-called wet area in the east you will see mixed forest and stately lanes. You will see the landscape change from forest to open plains. There are also many animal species. You may just run into a deer or a fox, or come face to face with a bunny on the bike path. Bats and finches are also found here. In short, this is a route that lets you enjoy the beauty of nature in Brabant. And of course there are plenty of nice places along the way to take a break on a terrace.
