Route through the Loonse and Drunense dunes
Enjoy the varied nature in North Brabant.
From Udenhout the bicycle route starts. A few times the main road is passed, but with such a lovely green environment, it is not noticeable. In the distance you can see the contours. The Loonse and Drunense dunes are just around the corner. This natural beauty makes you feel as if you are at the coast. Sand and dune plants such as marram grass and thistles alternate. It is not for nothing called the Brabant Sahara. This Brabant Sahara has thirty square kilometers of drifting sand that can still blow around freely. Sand plains, heath and forests alternate. There are also many animals walking and flying around; badgers, sheep, special beetles, tree falcons and much more. To enjoy this extra, you can even eat a \"sand cake\" along the way. After leaving the dunes you will drive towards the Leemkuilen. The loam pits, a group of puddles, were created by digging clay for brick making. The brick factory was founded in 1890. The smaller ponds were dug by hand and separated by dams. After finishing the bike tour, you will probably be hungry. With a good meal, the afterglow is wonderful.
