Via the Pass Road through Gelderland

Cycling through a piece of history in Gelderland
A route along small villages, through the woods and across the moors. From the surroundings of Epe you drive in the woods towards Vierhouten. You come to the Pas-Opweg. This is an old forest road on the Veluwe, which runs from the Eperweg near Nieuw-Soerel/ Nunspeet to the Gortelseweg in the municipality of Epe. The road passes the Verscholen Dorp near Vierhouten, a hiding camp in World War II. At the junction of the Pas-Opweg with the Tongerenseweg stands the forester's house 'Pas-Op'. The name would remind one that many highwaymen used to sit here, robbing unsuspecting travelers. Vierhouten and Elspeet are cozy villages where you can enjoy the tranquility before heading back towards Epe.
