Bicycle route around Fijnaart

Views in peaceful North Brabant and culture in Willemstad.
With an apple and a pear in your pocket, the bicycle route heads into the Brabant countryside. Beautiful views across the grasslands let you enjoy the scenery. Emerge at the Hollandsch Diep where it splits into the Volkerak and the Haringvliet at the fortified town of Willemstad. In the center you can see the history in the many monumental buildings. Along the Noorder Voorhaven with the Volkerak locks, it continues past Het Zwanenmeer. You even drive past a salt marsh area where many species of mudflats and seabirds have their feeding, resting and breeding grounds. You will cross De Dintel on your way to Dinteloord. The bike route meanders along De Dintel and you experience peace and quiet in this vast area. Past Standaardbuiten you will see the Keenesluis, a historic site as the lock is 248 years old. Originally it was a flood lock, later converted into a scoop wheel steam pumping station which is a unique construction. After a beautiful route it is great to recover with a good glass of honest juice.
