Cycling along the IJssel River

The river IJssel flows between the Gelderland and Overijssel. This route runs along the IJssel between Zwollen and Wijne. The floodplains of the IJssel, the area between river and dike, are protected nature reserves. It is full of plants, shrubs and in some places forests, which have been able to take root in dry periods. This fauna in a wet environment makes it an excellent place for many birds to nest. Besides small birds like the kingfisher and the lapwing, there are also many large birds like the egret and the spoonbill. A must for any bird lover!
