Cycling route through the Gelderland Valley

A route through small villages in Gelderse Valley and a bit of Veluwe.
Just outside Voorthuizen starts this bicycle route that will give you a nice impression of this wonderful area. Already after the first kilometers you will pass right by the Old Crafts and Toys Museum. In this area slightly to the east in 1944 around 40 tons of combat weapons, sabotage material, cigarettes and medicine were dropped to support the resistance. The landscape you cycle through is typical of Gelderse Valley; a coulisse landscape. Rows of trees break through the open landscape so that it is as if you are looking between the wings of the stage. You cycle through small villages such as Appel, Terschuur, and before Walderveen you pass a Museum Farm. There are many poultry farms around Voorthuizen and in the rest of the municipality of Barneveld. In the municipality of Barneveld, that can mean cycling past millions of chickens. When the landscape changes you ride after Driehuizen into the Veluwe. The agricultural landscape changes into forest and denser nature. Shifting sands and moraines, wild boar and deer, you may encounter it all. Almost at the end of the route you pass recreation area Zeumeren. On a warm day you can swim here. Relaxed by nature, but perhaps also tired from cycling, you can recover at your final destination.
