Limburg scenery all the way across the border

A bicycle route along major and minor rivers in the Roermond area.
From B&B Knooppunt 91 you depart into the province of Limburg. The area originally consists of sandy soil. The Rhine had an important role in this. The Meuse was then an insignificant tributary. In the course of time, the Meuse became larger and therefore more important here. You will pass the small river De Swalm several times. This is part of the border park Maas-Swalm-Nette which runs through both the Netherlands and Germany. It is an area with reeds, wet grasslands, and shrubs. Several species of owl live here as well as the badger and the beaver. Roermond is located where the Roer and Meuse rivers meet. The city has an ancient history as a found sacrificial stone points to residents in the 3rd century. Roermond has many churches and monasteries such as the St. Christopher Cathedral and the Munsterkerk which are worth visiting. Through the center you cycle back into the Limburg countryside. This time towards the German border. You will even cross the border a little bit so don't forget your ID. The view changes from forest to grassland and back again. You can enjoy the variety of this Limburg nature reserve.
