Route through South Limburg

Cycling over the hills and along gullies and creeks in the South Limburg countryside.
This bicycle route runs through beautiful South Limburg. Schin op Geul is located in the valley of the river Geul at an altitude of about 77 meters. From Schin op Geul the route runs along the Kleine Geul to Valkenburg. This region, Het Heuvelland, is formed by foothills of the Ardennes and the Eifel. Valkenburg has a historic city center where you can enjoy sitting on a terrace. After the history of Valkenburg, you drive back into nature. You pass the Cauberg, known from cycling. You ride past meadows that turn into hills around the corner and agricultural fields with corn growing to the sun. The villages have a non-Dutch feel to them. The influences of Germany are regularly visible. The hills and streams are characteristic of Limburg. You regularly pass them with names like De Gulp, the Klitserbeek and of course the Kleine Geul. You barely touch the Belgian border and continue to the village of Mechelen where the Melchelderbeek flows. Along the woods and meandering along the Kleine Geul you will enter Schin op Geul again. On the terrace you can watch the water and reminisce about the beauty Limburg has shown you.
