A fine route through the Zeeland countryside

Through dunes and along fields of Zeeland Flanders.
From the campground, the bike trail starts through the Campground Koolswegje's own fields. Potatoes, onions sugar beets and grass seed grow on both sides of the road. Through the sea clay landscape you cycle towards the Groese Polders. The area has become an area rich in birds. Plantings include buckthorn, cardinal's hat, gooseberry and hedgehog. It is not only a beautiful area for animals, also children can play here to their hearts content. In Breskens is the Fisheries Museum in the harbor. The Westerschelde, which you cycle along next, has been dredged for over a century to keep shipping possible. Outside Breskens, you will pass the Breskens Lighthouse which dates back to 1868. The lighthouse is open on Saturdays and Sundays from April through October. In the summer months also on Fridays. Along sea and dunes you cycle towards the Groese Polders. On the land side you have already visited them. Now from the sea side you can feel the sea and the sand between your toes. Beyond Cadzand, you cycle past Het Zwin Nature Reserve, which is a beach plain behind the dunes that is open to the sea. Thanks to the alternation of salt and fresh, wet and dry, and clay and sand, the area has a wide variety of plant life. You wind along De Kanaalweg towards the campsite. Parallel to this canal runs the border with Belgium but you will not pass it.
