Getting a breath of fresh air during beautiful bike ride around Biggekerke

Lovers of wide, expansive coastal landscapes will find plenty to enjoy on this tour. The island of Walcheren with its BLOF-acclaimed coastal region has traditionally been an attraction not only for beach lovers, but also for hikers and cyclists. The route has a starting point at Biggekerke (named after Saint Begga), possesses a beautiful corn mill and several motte hills, a typical Zeeland hill type, on which a small fortress was located in ancient times. The places Mariekerke and Aagtekerke that follow are similar, pleasant and traditional church villages, after which the cyclist reaches the coast at Domburg, the third oldest seaside resort in the country. The attractive town has many historic buildings, the main attractions being the town hall and especially the magnificent old, but beautifully restored Badpaviljoen, located in the dunes. The beautiful route along the coast then leads to Westkapelle, where the striking lighthouse Het Hoge Licht is visible from afar. We then turn towards Zoutelande, right past the immense local vacation park Het Kustlicht. The area near Zoutelande has had a brief history in the salt industry and the coastal region itself is often called the Zeeland Riviera, an attractive feature for many tourists. It is great to take a breather here, before continuing the tour inland, through the village of Valkenisse towards the end point.
