Cycling route through Zeeland
A route along fruit farming in South Beveland.
Along the Westerschelde it is already great to sit on the terrace, but a piece of cycling through Zeeland shows the polders and the dikes that protect the hinterland. Zuid-Beveland is the eastern part of central Zeeland. It is a peninsula and tract of land in the middle of the province of Zeeland and lies between the Oosterschelde and Westerschelde estuaries. Most of it consists of agricultural land use. You cycle through the part which is also called the Zak van Zuid-Beveland. This is a large fruit-growing area of mainly blackcurrants, apples and pears. Alternately, you ride behind the dike, along the orchards or through the polders. You can enjoy vistas and, when the blossoms bloom, a rich palette of colors. Afterwards you can relax on the terrace with a view over the water.
